At twelve years old, I began experimenting with drugs and alcohol. By eighteen, I was a full-blown cocaine addict and alcoholic. From eighteen to twenty one I lived a life of utter chaos. My life had become completely unmanageable. I ruined every relationship and started losing everything I was working so hard to keep.

I began to notice others who had been on the same road I was on for many years. I knew that I did not want to be on that same road five years later or, worse, dead.

On March 20, 2011, I decided to turn my addictions over to God. Broken down on a dirt road, I promised God I would not pick up another drink or drug again.

Two days later, I surrendered my life to Christ and have been living for him since!

In a desperate search to find my new identity in Christ, I found God, church, and community. The community I found in the church and through God is what helped me to maintain my sobriety. Surrounding myself with men who were sober and wanted to see me stay sober was empowering.

Strangely I found that serving and giving back empowered me even more. In the fall of 2012, two other men and I started meeting. They had the same mission as me, to help people find sobriety through Christ. We decided to start up a ministry called Celebrate Recovery at Crosspoint Church in Valdosta, Ga. This ministry is where my passion for addiction ministry began.

November of 2015, God gave me the vision to open up Redeemed Living. In March of 2016, we opened the doors and received our first client.

I am now married and have two beautiful children.

I was born and raised in Anderson, S.C. I am married and have a son.

In and out of addiction for over twenty-five years, I tried everything, with no success.

On my last trip to treatment, I decided to renew my relationship with God and go all-in on my recovery.

After treatment, I came to Redeemed Living. Good people surrounded me.

Everything Ineeded to succeed was provided.

I thank God and Brent for the opportunity to give back what was so freely given to me. Helping others helps me.

A Michigan native, I transplanted to Florida after high school to attend the University of Central Florida where I was awarded a BSBA. Valdosta, Georgia has been my home for 21 years, having previously lived in Savannah, GA and Tampa and Orlando, FL. My long career in the automotive industry has entailed 20 years running retail repair shops and 13 years as an outside sales manager for auto parts. The great outdoors is my office. My wife and I attend CrossPointe Church where we serve as team leaders for The Bean Team; in addition, we participate in the annual Trunk or Treat, Thanksgiving Baskets, Operation Christmas Box and various Bible studies. Through our Chamber of Commerce, I was privileged to serve as chairman of the Military Affairs Committee and had the honor of welcoming many of Moody AFB’s incoming airman through Red Carpet Committee events. Active in the local Emmaus community, I’ve gratefully served in many capacities, most recently as chairman on the board of directors for the South Georgia Walk to Emmaus community. My bridge of 12 years is the former Sheryl Dunlap. We enjoy life’s simple pleasures; and the antics of our two fur babies, Keller and Marmalade, keep us laughing.
